Back from a three-days trip to the Oltralpe Fair, placed in the much-loved region of the Loire, west of Paris, Nord of France, I can’t help but feel like I fell in love with these previously unknown places. I am definitely far from being the first, or the last to fall for this places’ charms, […]
May 2018. We where a small group, just 4 of us 3 from USA and one from England for 5amazing days in Umbria for a Porchetta tour. We stayed at Alla Madonna del Piatto in sight of Assisi as guest of our gracoius hostess Letizia, We had coking lessons with her and then ate what we had cooked on the terrace over looking a beautiful valley of olives and other plants. Every day was different, and fun and interesting, Our guide Barbara was wonderful and we had a lot of time to explore the villages we visited and also time to eat and drink and laugh always with a focus on Pork , the pigs and how they lived, how they where prepared for the festival, deboned and stuffed with herbs and salt and pepper and then wrapped and roast . The festival was amazing and we tried pork from many parts of Italy . Everyone was fun to be with and helpful with our questions , we also had a fine driver and visited vineyards too. Sarah Rheault
“Our experience with Wine Link and Barbara D’Agapiti was wonderful.
Can’t say enough about our flawless, extraordinary experience.”
Porchetta is a dish which is popular all over Italy as street food, almost always spotted at events like street fairs and weekly produce markets. Multiple sagras, or food festivals, are devoted to it every year. But Umbria fiercely guards its reputation as the birthplace of porchetta. […..]
“The fennel is what makes it Umbrian,” said Barbara D’Agapiti, owner of Wine Link Italy, a guide to local food and wine. Fennel grows wild here, and its pollen has the refreshing whiff of dried sage, with notes of saffron, lemon and fennel seed.

Finding Barbara and Wine Link Italy was a blessing. We took the 4 day Wine and Pasta tour with 2 of our closest friends and it was more than we could have ever imagined. Barbara (who we now call Babs, because she’s our new best friend!) put together a completely personalized 4 day tour of her favorite restaurants, sites, wineries, olive oils mills, and we even went to the oldest brewery in Perugia. She gets to know all of her clients before they arrive, so that she can customize every tour she gives. Everything was taken care of for us, down to the INCREDIBLE Bed and Breakfast we stayed at. (side note: you must stay at Alla Madonna Del Piatto and take one of Letizia’s cooking classes.) Every moment of our trip was so thoughtfully planned out by Babs. We were stuffed with the most delicious wine and food 24 hours a day and never had to think about what we were doing or where we were going next, not to mention we learned SO much about the history of the Umbrian region. Babs is such a wonderful person to guide you on your Italian adventure and we can’t wait to go back to Italy and see what Babs has in store for us next. Choosing Wine Link Italy will be the best decision you can make while traveling in Italy.
Words will not be able to give proper justice to the most amazing four days we spent with Barbara in Umbria! The Pasta and Vino Tour was more than we (2 couples in their 30s) could have ever expected. The tour was adventurous yet relaxing, delicious, and extremely educational. Barbara is an expert not only of the geography of the region, but also its incredible offerings, mainly wine, olive oil, and food! She was so informative and fun to be with. I cannot wait to return to Italy and book another tour with Barbara. Highly recommended – it will be the best part of your trip.

This is the second year that we have traveled with Barbara. This trip was through Southern Tuscany, Umbria & Abruzzo. Her in-depth knowledge of the area, personal connections with the local people, and personality made this trip truly memorable. We would absolutely recommend Barbara and Wine Link Italy to anyone traveling through Italy. There’s no way to personally experience the amazing food, wines and beauty of Italy without her!
We were lucky enough to find Barbara and we had a fantastic day–we visited three wineries, had lunch and dinner and attended the parade of the “Giostra della Quintana – La Rivincita” We visit Umbria every year and have found the best person to organize our trips in the region—book with her, you won’t be sorry!! I wish we would have found her earlier!

Absolutely marvellous, Barbara picked us up on time and from the outset made us very welcome. She gave us a very informed view of local culture regarding the wines and the olive oil grown in the area. This was backed up with visits to a design winery in Bevagna and a more traditional one in Montefalco as well as an olive oil producer. This was split with lunch at a local trattoria in Bevagna where we were treated to the most marvellous lunch. Even though it was just my wife and I there was never a dull moment and I could not fault the attention that was given to us. Barbara was an excellent host/guide and would thoroughly recommend her tour to anyone visiting Umbria.
